Following the recent escalation in military activity, thousands of people, including women and children, have been evacuated from conflict-affected areas, including several locations where ActionAid and local partners are present.
ActionAid and our partners are actively engaged in supporting evacuations to safer locations, working closely with local authorities to ensure the safe relocation of communities to secure settlement areas.
Chantara Kimsan, Interim Country Director, ActionAid Cambodia, says:
“We are deeply concerned about the impact of this conflict on women and children, who are always disproportionately affected. Our teams are on the ground are working around the clock to support displaced communities with the care, protection, and support they require. Our initial assessments highlight urgent humanitarian needs, including shelter, food, first aid, and essential daily supplies, particularly hygiene and sanitation items for women and children.”
ActionAid’s partners are also coordinating with local health authorities to ensure access to medical and psychosocial support for affected populations.
ActionAid is calling for an immediate ceasefire, restraint from all parties, and a peaceful, long-term resolution to the conflict.
