U.S. demand for biofuels will account for almost half of global demand by 2025, under targets agreed to by Congress in the Renewable Fuels Standard. Large amounts of food crops will be used to make the fuel to meet these targets. This massive increase in U.S. demand is threatening the food and land rights of some of the world’s poorest people.
