ActionAid USA (AAUSA), part of the ActionAid International federation, is looking for a creative and organized fundraising professional to lead its individual giving program, contributing to the organizations’ overall mission of building a more just, equitable, and sustainable world.

The Digital Fundraising Officer will manage the individual giving funding stream by building strategy and supporting the growth of the program. The Digital Fundraising Officer will be the first point of contact for donors who call or email AAUSA; will manage the back end of several fundraising systems; and will work closely with the fundraising team, communications team, finance team, and other AAUSA and ActionAid International staff, to understand the greatest fundraising needs across the federation and contribute to the programmatic, policy, and advocacy goals of the organization.

Salary range: $57,000 – $70,000 depending on experience. This is a collective bargaining unit position and includes a full benefits package including health, life, and disability insurance, a retirement plan, paid time off for all federal holidays, and generous and flexible vacation leave, sick leave, personal leave, and 16 weeks paid parental leave after your first year (with the option to take additional time unpaid).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Strategize and manage all digital supporter communications for donors. This includes writing email appeals and monthly newsletters, developing digital campaigns, and growing ActionAid’s membership program.
  • Manage emergency campaigns in the wake of disasters and conflict.
  • Manage the Salesforce and EveryAction databases; conduct monthly reconciliations in concert with the Finance Department; create reports for international leadership, and other reports for various audiences as needed.
  • Maintain and expand AAUSA’s partnerships with third-party giving platforms.
  • Manage high quality donor care, including emails and phone calls from current and potential donors to AAUSA.
  • Liaise with implementing country staff to stay up to date on the greatest needs across the federation.
  • Provide long-term strategic insight on the growth of the Individual Giving program.
  • Develop knowledge and build best practices for donor acquisition, cultivation, and retention, based on US philanthropic trends and opportunities.
  • Support the growth of a corporate fundraising program through building employee giving partnerships.
  • Provide other departmental support as needed.

MUST-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2+ years of relevant experience in non-profit development, marketing communications, or business development.
  • Self-starter with a proven record of success in sales/business development/nonprofit fundraising, with a need for minimal oversight.
  • Dynamic, people-person who thrives on connecting with others and building relationships with supporters.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with digital marketing, messaging, and/or social media.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable working with numbers and analyzing data to inform digital fundraising strategy.
  • Knowledge of, or willingness to build a working knowledge of, international development, social justice, and poverty issues.
  • Strong organization and time management skills, and attention to detail.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States (AAUSA will not sponsor employment visas).
  • Residence in the Washington, DC area with the ability to come into the office on a hybrid schedule (up to 3 days/week as agreed with manager).
  • Personal commitment to adopting and practicing ActionAid’s feminist leadership and anti-racist principles in the workplace.

PREFERRED, but not critical, QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or relevant higher education.
  • Experience in, or great desire to learn, the development of business plans/pitches.
  • Experience with Salesforce and/or EveryAction, or other database systems.
  • Experience working with varied cultures and nationalities.
